FamilyStories is a private app for families who want to securely preserve memories, voices, and life stories from parents, grandparents, and loved ones. Guided questions, text, and voice recordings help you capture stories together as a family.

Why we built FamilyStories
Because I never asked many of the questions.
FamilyStories came from a simple feeling: you shouldn’t wait for “someday” to preserve family stories while people can still tell them.
A personal note from Vedad.
My family has lived in different places for years. We call, write, and see each other on holidays, and still I ask far too rarely the questions I know I'd miss the most later.
I wish I had asked more about how Grandma made that one dish, about rituals nobody ever wrote down, and about the people before my time. When my grandparents were gone, I realized how suddenly quiet it gets when those stories are missing.
Alzheimer’s plays a role in our family too. That makes the wish even more urgent to capture memories in time, while they can still be told, including by voice when typing feels like too much.
My wish is simple: that families start asking earlier, not only when someone is gone, but while the memories haven't faded yet.

FAQ
What families usually ask first.
FamilyStories is built for private family stories. You stay in control, answers are easy to give, and each paid plan applies to exactly one family circle.
You do. Each person keeps the rights to what they tell, write or upload. FamilyStories only gets the technical rights needed to store and transmit everything for you.
The central data storage of FamilyStories is in the EU. The database is in Frankfurt, and end-to-end encrypted photos and voice recordings are kept in EU-restricted cloud storage.
For email, notifications, purchases and sign-in, we use service providers that may also process the data needed for this, such as your email address, outside the EU. The privacy policy lists which ones they are.
Yes. The text is large, every question stands on its own, and instead of typing you can simply tell your story. If someone doesn't want an app, they answer through a personal link in the browser. You can also answer the questions together in your app, for example during a visit.
Both work. Open a question and tap “Write” or “Speak”. When you speak, the app turns your voice into text, and your voice is kept if you like. An answer can be short or long and can be added to at any time.
You cancel subscriptions with Apple: on your iPhone, open Settings, tap your name at the top, and then tap Subscriptions. In the app, “Manage subscriptions” on the Premium page takes you there.
Cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the period, otherwise the subscription renews. Deleting the app or your account does not cancel it, and only the person who pays can cancel. Your plan runs until the end of the paid period.
The app is made for iPhone and iPad and needs at least iOS 16. An Android version is planned. If you don't have an iPhone or iPad, you can still take part: with a personal link in the browser, on a phone or a computer.
