Preserve your family’s memories and life stories

FamilyStories helps families save memories, voices, and life stories in one private place. Guided questions, text answers, and recordings make it easier to capture your parents' and grandparents' stories before the small details slip away.

Mei-Ling L.

Hearing my mother’s voice feels almost like we’re sitting together at the kitchen table again.

Helga W. (84)

I’m not great with new gadgets. Here I just tapped and talked, and at 84 it still felt easy.

Karin R.

Knowing our stories stay private and would never be used for ads. That was what mattered most to us.

Sharon F.

The printed book arrived, and the quality feels like a real heirloom.

Sophie D.

When I ask my parents questions in the app, our conversations go deeper than a quick phone call ever could.

Michael H.

My daughter gave me this for my birthday. It sparked so many stories we had never slowed down enough to hear.

Paul K.

My father answers at his own pace, and suddenly we’re hearing stories we never knew existed.

Kofi A.

In Ghana we pass stories by word of mouth. This feels like carrying that tradition into a private, modern space.

Christian P.

I record my dad right in the app. His stories feel more alive when they come back in his own words.

Hiroshi T.

Honoring ancestors matters in our family. The simple, calm design made it easy for everyone to take part.

Nina J.

I gave my mom the printed book for her 70th. For once, I actually left her speechless, in the best way.

What the app does

Questions that feel personal

Instead of hundreds of generic prompts, your family sees questions that fit their world: clear, respectful, and closer to the life they’re sharing.

What is FamilyStories?

A private space for family stories.

FamilyStories is a private app for families who want to keep memories, voices, and life stories from parents, grandparents, and loved ones. Guided prompts, recordings, and a shared family workspace help you capture what matters together.

  • Who it's for: Adult children, grandchildren, and relatives who don't want to wait until it's too late.
  • What you capture: Life stories, family rituals, photos, voices, and small moments you never want to lose.
  • How: Thoughtful questions, simple invites, text or voice answers, automatic transcription, and private access for your family.

Why start now

The most important stories often fade quietly.

Family history rarely disappears overnight. More often, life gets busy and nobody asks in time.

For example

  • How Grandma used to celebrate Christmas
  • Why Dad chose his first career
  • The phrase that carried Mom through hard seasons

Some stories only come out when someone asks. FamilyStories helps you capture the memories, voices, and life stories of parents and grandparents before everyday life quietly fades them.

How it works

From scattered answers to a story that lasts.

FamilyStories walks families from the first question to a living archive with text, voice, photos, and exports when you’re ready.

What it feels like

Calm, clear, and built for real conversations, not scrolling.

FamilyStories is designed to feel approachable for people who don't spend all day on their phones: generous typography, clear cards, and voice when typing feels like too much.

Security & privacy

We treat your family stories the way you would.

These aren’t “posts.” They’re private memories. FamilyStories is built around protected invites, encrypted content, and a product that doesn’t rely on ads or selling your data.

Security isn’t an add-on for FamilyStories. It’s the baseline for everything your family shares, writes, and uploads.

  • End-to-end encryption to help keep memories private.
  • Only invited people can read or contribute.
  • No ads, no public feed, and no selling your personal stories.
  • Export text, photos, and original voice recordings as an archive when you want a copy.

Why we built FamilyStories

Because I didn’t ask the questions soon enough.

FamilyStories came from a simple feeling: you shouldn’t wait for “someday” to preserve family stories while people can still tell them.

Vedad Taranin, founder of FamilyStories

A short note from Vedad.

My family hasn’t lived in one place for years. You stay in touch through holidays, calls, and quick updates, and still, the bigger questions don’t get asked nearly often enough.

I wish I’d asked more: the meals that only existed in our kitchen, the rituals nobody wrote down, the people before my time. When my grandparents were gone, I felt how much quieter a family becomes when those stories disappear.

Alzheimer’s is part of my family’s story too. That made the urgency sharper: capture memories across distance, keep them safe, and make speaking easy when typing isn’t.

My hope is that other families start earlier, not when someone is missing, but while stories are still being told. FamilyStories exists to gather them in a calm, private place for the people who will ask later.

FAQ

What families usually ask first.

FamilyStories is built for private family stories. You stay in control, answers are easy to give, and Premium works on every supported device linked to your account.

You do, fully. Your stories and data are end-to-end encrypted. Only you and the people you invite can read them. Not even FamilyStories can access your private content.
